These shoulder knots are part of a dress uniform worn by Thomas Henry Barber (1844-1905) when he served as Inspector General for the State of New York, 1889-1892. The Society also owns the other items to this uniform.
DescriptionPair of gold shoulder knots with a metal thread embroidered star and "I.D." at the shoulder end, buttons cast with shield-breasted eagle at the collar end; reverse lined with dark blue wool felt, with metal hinged fasteners and hook.
Markingsembroidered: obverse, center of each end: "I.D." incised: reverse, on hinged fastener: "RIDABOCK & CO. / FORMERLY / BAKER & McKENNEY / NEW YORK"
