This is a later version of a large undated watercolor of the same scene owned in 1971 by the Old Print Shop, New York City. The hotel known as the Palisades Mountain House which is seen on the summit of the cliff in the version owned by the Society is not depicted in the earlier version. The view is of the Palisades at Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. In the past it has been incorrectly identifed as taken from Alpine, New Jersey, five miles farther north.
