This dress coat is part of a uniform collection donated to the Society by Major General Robert Lee Bullard, and was probably worn by Colonel S. Y. Seyburn. The Society also owns the trousers which correspond to this coat.
DescriptionOlive drab wool Army General's single-breasted dress coat, with 1 5/8" closed stand-up collar (2 sets hooks and eyes) with "U.S." insignia at the front of each side, shoulder straps which button at the collar end, with 3 silver-colored 5-pointed stars on each strap, 5 buttons down the center front, gold-colored silk lacing band around each wrist of closed sleeves (no cuffs), 4 pockets, 1 at each breast and hip, all pockets with flaps which button closed; 4 panels on the back; lined with olive drab twill-weave linen, with vertical slit pocket at the left breast, collar lined with heavily starched stand-up form.
