This teabowl and saucer set was given by Clarkson Crolius (1773-1843) to Elizabeth Meyer (d.1858) at the time of their marriage in 1793. Crolius was a New York potter and politician.
DescriptionPorcelain saucer with blue enamel and gilt star band around outer rim, gilt scallop and blue dot band beneath and interior band of blue linked diamonds and gilt circles; saucer is decorated with two birds facing each other, each holding a flower, in an oval cartouche.
