This piece is from an assembled set of Worcester blue and white soft paste porcelain assembled by collector Edmund Astley Prentis (1883-1967). This sugar bowl has a distinctive shape because it is smaller and more vertical than sugar bowls of this time period.
DescriptionSoft paste porcelain sugar bowl and modified ogee lid surmounted by an upright open flower finial with two applied leaves at its base; both parts printed in underglaze blue with a large and a small floral spary on each part; the exterior cover and interior bowl rim are double banded with painted blue lines; printed butterflies are on the bowl; "the three flowers pattern"; marked with the capital letter C.
