This bronze base is described in Tiffany Studios' catalogues as "Balanced Lamp" and is numbered 415.
DescriptionBlown Favrile glass shade of modified spherical shape; unlit, it is dark green decorated with brown striations and 2-inch wide belts of iridescent purples; when illuminated, the shade becomes light green with brown striations; 16 wavy lines run from the aperture to the border and the belts are light green bands. Shown on bronze Balance desk lamp base (N84.2.2) that has arched stem, spherical bronze balance connected to the stand by a stem-and-leaf attachment, and circular base.
Markingsetched inside lip of shade: "L. C. T. Favrile" stamped on underside of base: "TIFFANY STUDIOS / NEW YORK / 415"
