This cup was given by Clarkson Crolius (1773-1843) to Elizabeth Meyer (d. 1858) at the time of their marriage in 1793. Crolius was a New York potter and politican.
DescriptionPorcelain demitasse cup with interior rim band of blue enamel linked diamonds and gilt circles, exteior rim band of blue enamel with gilt stars above gilt scallop and dot band; the front has an oval cartouche containing two birds facing each other, each holding a flower.
