Gift of George R. Simpson, 1916
INV.12413a-e
This watch was bought in Edinburg, Scotland by Mr. Rintoul before 1818. In about 1830 he gave it to his son, Robert Rintoul. He came to America in 1846, bringing the watch with him. In 1865 he gave it to his daughter Mrs. Cecilia Simpson. It has ever since been in the Simpson family. The watch papers inside of the case were placed there by jewelers when the warch was repaired.
