These shoes were worn by the donor, who enlisted in the U.S. Army in World War II as a private and rose to First-Seargent in the 162nd Signal Photo Company (later consolidated into the 3908 Signal Service Battalion, Photo GHQ). He served at the headquarters of the European Theater of Operations in London and Paris. The shoes were a part of his overall uniform (1946.192a-o).
DescriptionPair of dark brown leather men's ankle-high shoes, low-heeled and nearly square at the toe, with cotton shoelaces laced through round metal eyelets.
Markingsmolded: on bottom of each heel, molded into the rubber: "NEXT TO WINGS / O'Sullivan's"
