A note attached to this fan indicates that it was carried by Lucy Jackson to a ball held on a battleship to celebrate the American victory at Plattsburgh on Lake Champlain during the War of 1812.
DescriptionFan with ivory guards and sticks, and paper leaf with hand-painted line engraving depicting three-masted ship full of rejoicing sailors.
Markingsprinted: on obverse of leaf: "Viva a Paz, viva a Lusa Gente."
