The Ansonia Clock Co. opened a second factory in Brooklyn, New York in 1879 and by June of 1880 the factory employs 360 workers. The plaque was probably added by the collector, George W. Murdock.
DescriptionOctagonal wooden clock with circular white dial with black painted Roman numerals; hinged brass rim holds glass disk over dial; molded wooden sides; brass plaque below dial with inscription.
Markingsincised: on plaque: "1863 1912 / S. O. Pierce" printed in black: on paper label affixed to back: "ONE - DAY / LEVER / SETH THOMA[S] / THOMASTON, CONN., U.S.A., / MANUFACTURER OF EVERY VARIETY . . . [with further inscriptions relating to other clocks produced]" printed(?): on dial: "SOP" (painted on or over with gold paint)
