DescriptionCopperplate-printed, glazed cotton textile fragment with repeating vignettes representing "The Gallant Decature and his Brave Tars Capturing the Algerine Admiral" and the Boston Tea Party, etc., with medallions with images of Lafayette, General Jackson and others represented; printed in turkey red on white ground.
Markingsprinted: all over with scenes labelled: "Defeat of the British at Baltimore/ Defeat of the British before the Town of New Orleans/ Prevost's retreat from Plattsburg and the capture of the British Fleet/ Surrender of Genl. Burgoyne & Army at Saratoga/ The Gallant Attack and the Storming of Stoney Point/ The Spirited Inhabitants of Boston throwing three ship loads of tea overboard/ The Brave Tars of America granting Peace to the Barbary States/ The Gallant Decature and his Brave Tars Capturing the Algerine Admiral" printed: in the medallions: "Gen'l Washington/ B. Franklin/ M'de La Fayette/ Gen'l Jackson/ Commodore Bainbridge/ Commodore Decature"
