This quilt was made as an engagement present for Frank Henry Platt (1852-1925) when he married Sarah Elizabeth Wiley (1855-1934) in 1877. Each of the twenty blocks was created by an individual maker from dress remnants, and the whole was assembled by Mr. Platt's sister, Miss Ella L. Platt (1844-1928). The square signed "Grace" was done by Mr. Platt's sister Grace Platt (1852-1925).
