Joanna De Peyster Kuypers (1792-1832) was the daughter of Rev. Gerardus A. Kuypers, Minister of the Reformed Dutch Church in New York. She married Dr. Peter Van Zandt in 1818 and had eight children. She died of bronchitis at the age of 39.
DescriptionHorizontal rectangular picture embroidered in various colors silk floss and chenille on linen ground; two figures in classical dress, one kneeling, one sleeping in forest setting, heads, hands and feet of figures painted; except for painted areas, stitching covers entire ground, stitches include satin, couch, knot, outline, straight.
