This model represents the oil tanker R.P. Resor, built on speculation in 1935 by the Federal Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company at Kearney, NJ. The R.P. Resor and T.C. McCobb were the most modern oil carriers of their size constructed at that time in in the U.S., if not in the world. The tanker served in WW II before it was lost in enemy action on February 26, 1942 off Barnegat Light, N.J.
