DescriptionPewter struck medal with obverse showing allegorical female bust of Liberty facing left, with Phrygian cap at right; legend above: "LIBERTAS. AMERICANA."; inscription in exergue: "4 JUIL. 1776." Reverse shows allegorical figure of France in armor defending infant from vicious lion with spear and shield decorated with fleur-de-lys motifs; legend above: "NON SINE DIIS ANIMOSUS INFANS."; inscription in exergue: "17 17777./OC7inv.4872T./19 1781."
