According to New York City directories, Robert J. Horner was in business as a furniture dealer in the city from the mid-1880s to the early 1920s. His business was located on West 23rd Street from around 1887 to 1915.
DescriptionMahogany partner's desk with similar arrangement of drawers on two sides; upper case with ogee face and one center drawer flanked by a smaller drawer on either side; one additional lower drawer on either side in flat-faced case raised on four cylindrical legs above a shaped horizontal base supported on four bun feet.
Markingsprinted label: affixed to bottom of center drawer: "FROM / R. J. HORNER & CO., / FURNITURE MAKERS / AND IMPORTERS / 61, 63 & 65 West 23d St., New York City."
